    Responsibilities/Qualifications

    We are seeking candidates for the position of Purchasing Manager in our Corporate office, located in Ft. Mitchell, KY.

     

    This position is responsible for managing vendor relationships, sourcing products and services that deliver the best possible competitive cost position for the Company, and helping drive specification and product design efficiencies. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement analysis across multiple product categories both within and across divisional boundaries, implement supply chain initiatives to drive down overall costs, and develop new supplier relationships that help us meet our Customers' needs and Company goals.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct various negotiations with product manufacturers and suppliers in the Southeast Region that will create the maximum Total Cost of Ownership cost benefit structure for that region.
    • Maintain a high level of involvement in each Southeast Division's operations to ensure operational best practices, systems, methods and policies are efficient, consistent with Drees standards and expectations which contribute to the profitable operation of the division.
    • Perform plan cost and product specification analysis across all Divisions that will identify potential cost reduction opportunities which will improve our Total Cost of Ownership strategy for specific products, plans or services. Put benchmark in place to measure success.
    • Idenfies and researches potential new suppliers.
    • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand for certain product categories
    • Act as liaison between local Division and National/Regional Trade Partners.
    • Assist Divisions with any Supply Chain challenges, product failures, recalls, etc.
    • Work with local Division Management team to oversee and ensure the timeliness that will maximize any new national or regional product agreement compliance for the Southeast Region.
    • Audit Southeast Region Trade Contract Agreements to ensure that each Division has a firm control of its cost and are working to acheive the best possible competitive cost position in each market.
    • Work with VP, National Purchasing & Operations and regional purchasing teams to support national and regional purchasing efforts.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Excellent managerial and training skills
    • Working knowledge of project management principles and practices
    • Knowledge of purchasing and supply chain systems
    • Experience in applying problem-solving tecniques like Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing
    • Strong computer skills, ideally with experience using Windows-based computer programs
    • Excellent writtena nd verbal communication skills
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks, with awareness of deadlines
    • Strong analytical, negotiation and decision making skills
    • Demonstrates leadership skills

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Purchasing, Materials Management, Operations Management, Construction Management or related field
    • At least 5 years experience in purchasing and procurement
    • Solid track record meeting substantial material cost reduction targets
    • Product Value Engineering experience
    • Construction knowledge preferred
