Responsibilities/Qualifications

The Builder Trainee Internship Program is a paid, structured learning experience that provides students with a strong understanding of Drees Homes and the residential homebuilding industry.  The intern will assist a Builder/Superintendent in his/her daily work duties as it relates to cost control, scheduling, quality control, customer satisfaction, safety and general supervision.  The intern will also be responsible for completing multiple assignments throughout the internship.  The experience will be rewarding, engaging, meaningful and educational. 

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Become familiar with proper sequencing and scheduling of trade contractors
  • Assist Builder/Superintendent by assuming responsibility for scheduling and management of trade contractors
  • Ensure that construction phases under your supervision are properly completed
  • Become familiar with Drees' performance specifications and ensure that activities are meeting these requirements
  • Ensure homes are 100% complete for the Warranty Quality Inspection and homeowner orientation lists are 100% complete prior to closing
  • Exchange cost variance information with the division purchasing department
  • Collaborate with the warranty department to ensure any potential complaints are handled promptly
  • Be responsible for the general cleanliness and safety of subdivisions
  • Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with internal as well as external customers

 

 Requirements:

  • Working toward a degree in Construction Management or a related field
  • Specializing or course work in residential construction
  • Maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Sophomore or Junior status preferred
  • Some work experience in the field related to construction
